Rivas Easter Report

 SUPPORT IS GROWING!

Praise God for the vision and shared   burden for the lost he is giving people for Southern Spain.  God is giving us a great beginning with our missionary support.  Our prayers and plan is that by January 2006 we will be “packing” for Spain.  Until then, there is much work to be done.  Please pray for us as we diligently seek contacts and support for our mission to Spain.

 

 

 

While many of us celebrate the joy and true meaning of Easter, people of all ages throughout Southern Spain will be celebrating the Semana Santa (The Holy Week).  This is celebrated the week before Easter Sunday.  People will be expressing their devotion by attending elaborate processions of hooded men carrying statues of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary through the streets on platforms called “pasos”.  Thousands travel from great distances to seek some blessing or make a vow.  Many people use this demonstration to give meaning to their lives, and comfort them for the rest of the year.  Every day of the week, starting from Palm Sunday until Saturday night before Easter, they will have a procession.  Easter Sunday is the only day of the Semana Santa that no procession or celebration will be held anywhere in the streets.  They worship idols, not the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Unfortunately this week long celebration leaves people with an understanding that our God is no longer alive.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  The results from this celebration only hide the truth and hope that has been given to us from our “living” Christ.

$$ for Referrals???

Last week my wife and I went to H&R Block to have our taxes done.  After we completed the process, the tax associate gave us a referral form for us to share with others who have never been to H&R Block.   H&R Block uses these referrals to increase their client base.  The incentive is a $10 bonus for us and $20 bonus for that 1^st time client.  Well, we also have a referral program, but our rewards are more satisfying than money.  Consider two individuals or churches that you believe would hear our presentation about our vision for Spain.  We are enclosing two personal business cards for your use in contacting those individuals on our behalf.  We would love and be honored to meet with any individuals, groups or churches…J.
